Many people like to listen to music with headphones. Some people are used to playing very loud,Somebody think it will be “cool”;Or because the ambient noise is too loud,They had to turn their headphones very high. However, few people know,This unsafe ear habit may cause hearing loss.

Human hearing health is very important. If we lose our hearing, we will no longer be able to hear the chirping of birds, the advice of our parents, and our own voice. Even if it is only part of hearing impairment, it will bring a lot of inconvenience to our life, study and work.

Moreover, continuous exposure to excessive noise can cause permanent damage to the auditory system, resulting in irreversible hearing loss.

  1. 1 billion young people worldwide are at risk of hearing loss from prolonged exposure to noise.

In China, a survey of 3826 college students in a university found that more than 1000 people had noise induced hearing impairment, accounting for nearly 30%.

Fortunately, however, 60% of hearing loss in children under the age of 15 can be effectively prevented through child screening and early intervention.

So, what should we do to protect our hearing health? For the noise induced hearing loss mentioned above, we should:

1、Control volume

No matter what audio equipment is used, the volume should not be too high. The hearing safety level of personal audio equipment is to adjust the volume to no more than 60% of the maximum volume in a quiet environment; If you like listening to music, it is recommended to choose soft and non harsh music, such as classical music and light music, which is more conducive to the maintenance of your ears; When making a call, be careful not to put the mobile phone close to your ear. Using headphones to answer the call can also reduce the noise of the mobile phone itself.

2、Reduce noise good for hearing health

Earplugs can be used to protect hearing in noisy environments such as nightclubs, discos, bars and sports venues; Cover your ears in time in the environment where loud noise may occur, such as setting off firecrackers and sound roaring; In too noisy environment, it is best not to use headphones.

3. Reduce exposure to noise

The continuous use of headphones should not exceed 60 minutes. Adults should not wear headphones for more than 3 ~ 4 hours a day, and minors should not wear headphones for more than 2 hours; When going to bars, stadiums and other noisy places, leave from time to time so that the auditory organs can have a short rest;

4Timely detection of hearing loss

For hearing loss, timely intervention can effectively avoid its progress. When you find it difficult to listen to high tones such as doorbell, telephone bell and alarm clock; Can’t hear others clearly, especially the phone; Unable to hear others clearly in noisy environments such as restaurants; If you often have tinnitus and other symptoms, you should seek help from an otolaryngologist in time.

In addition to noise, other factors may also cause hearing loss. Therefore, it should also be noted that:

1. Prevention of exogenous injury

Do not pull out your ears with dirty wool needles, hairpins, wooden sticks, etc. to avoid puncturing the tympanic membrane and causing traumatic tympanic membrane perforation, suppurative otitis media and other diseases; Clean up the ear in time after water enters the ear to avoid ear disease caused by water in the ear canal.

2. Reasonable diet

Vitamin B1, vitamin B2, vitamin B6, vitamin C, zinc, magnesium and calcium all have good protective effects on hearing. You can supplement vitamins appropriately and eat more coarse grains, eggs, vegetables and fruits; Nicotine in cigarettes and ethanol in wine have certain toxic effects on the inner ear. Avoid contact.

3. Rational drug use

Some drugs, such as streptomycin, kanamycin and gentamicin, have ototoxicity. Attention should be paid not to abuse them.

4. Timely treatment of diseases

Upper respiratory tract infection may affect the ventilation degree of eustachian tube, and if the bacteria in nasal mucus enter the middle ear cavity, it will cause middle ear suppurative infection; If suppurative otitis media is found, it must be treated in time, otherwise it will have a great impact on hearing.
